Mission of Charity
Emulating the Buddha's spirit of "great mercy even to strangers and great compassion for all," Tzu Chi Chicago chapter has embarked on a large number of charity projects. Besides awakening the Great Love of all people, Tzu Chi members also inspire their own bodhi-minds and accomplish their spiritual cultivation through the act of giving. Service Programs:
Mission of Medicine
Chicago's medical mission was initiated by Dr. Kuo Chung-yuan and Sister Hou Tzu-Un. Since 1995, Chicago's medical team has sponsored and provided free clinic and free medical consultation to people at the annual Overseas Chinese Cultural Festival; given free medical check-up for children of school age prior to the beginning of school year; and supported medical mission in Central and South American countries. Mission of Education
Education is a powerful tool for purifying society and improving social trends. It is hoped that through Tzu Chi our children can augment their regular schooling and receive additional fine education, such as in Chinese history and culture, moral principles, life education, and arts and humanities. Tzu Chi looks forward to developing a young generation with proper character that is able to benefit society and all mankind. Service Programs:
